Rental
Scam
A
warning to your readers.
Advertisers
on the self catering holiday homes web site are being warned
to be on the lookout for rental scams.
Some advertisers on jmlvillas.com have been targeted over
the past couple of months. The applicant fills out the contact
box on an individual advertiser’s property and then states
he or she is looking for accommodation.
Quite
often this person will talk about a” room” being advertised
and they must have this for a number of weeks, sometimes later
in the year.
The
applicants state they are a business person or model and in
a couple of cases say they are coming from Africa using a
Yahoo email address.
If an advertiser replies they then arrange to send a payment
far in excess of the rental for the agreed period and then
immediately want the excess refunded. If the advertiser does
this, they will then find that the original payment is bogus.
Although all dealings between jmlvillas.com advertisers and
renters are nothing to do with jmlvillas.com, I am anxious
to warn advertisers of this problem says Philip Suter.
