In 2000 the owners of a holiday home in the South of France were wanting to let it for holiday lets. They considered advertising in the UK national Sunday Papers and soon discovered that this can be a very expensive business, particularly if you have to repeat the ad several times a year.

They approached some of the UK holiday villa companies. They wanted exclusive booking rights for several months of the year and as a property owner you still needed your own local agent to check people in and out unless you lived close to the holiday property yourself.

The third method was to go to a local rental agent in France. Although a couple of bookings were arranged, had the owners been depending on this income to pay for all the associated expenses of the property, this method of marketing would not be satisfactory.

They soon discovered that there were numerous other people in a similar position. Some had their own personal websites, but if you have an individual website it is not going to get found easily on the world wide web unless it is effectively marketed.

They then decided to create a web site specifically for holiday home owners who needed to market their property at a price that would not eat into their income too much.

In July 2001, euro-rentavilla.com was established. The name indicating the area the properties would be in – Europe and the other part of the name indicating the function of the site –renting a villa. The site was successfully launched and advertised in Holiday publications in various European countries. At the same time it was strongly promoted on the major search engines. To promote the site even further a second site euro-rentals.com was established to draw traffic into the main site together with several mini sites including — englishcottagerentals.com and a French language introduction site euro-villalocation.com.

After a series of market research surveys, many people thought that the name should be simplified. The company that runs the site is Jeffrey Milner Ltd that was established in 1979 . It has been involved with the UK property business for over 25 years now and been trading as JML Property Services .

In 2002 a web site for UK rented property insurance was established jml-property-insurance.co.uk. The site sells cheap  Landlord & Tenant insurance products from Homelet and Letsure and has been very successful. jml has now added Holiday travel insurance via Direct Travel Insurance, England and insurance4carhire.com – a company offering an annual insurance policy for people renting a car who only pay once for excess insurance on car rental instead of every time they rent. As the JML name has worked so well and is easy to remember, it was decided in 2004 to re-brand euro-rentavilla.com as jmlvillas.com

The brief to our developers,Taupo Solutions, has been to build an easy to use site to search for properties and for property owners to submit their properties themselves and make changes when required. It would be essential that the advertiser would be able to have statistics of the number of visitors to their property page and the numbers then visiting their individual web site if they have one. The property owner can access this information anytime they require it. Whenever a property owner has their own website, you will find this can be accessed from jmlvillas.com .

In 2005 countries outside have been added and the objective is to offer a superb selection of self catering accommodation in the most popular worldwide destinations.
